As the world grows more chaotic and divided, and with it, drum & bass becomes more hectic and brooding, South London producer BrandNewTrumpets offers a counterbalance, with a left-of-centre technique and earnest sensibility.
A long-time drum & bass obsessive and sibling to fellow producers Shiva and Hospital Records\' Mitekiss, BrandNewTrumpets began producing around 2009, but it wasn\'t until she left her job as an English teacher five years later that she decided to really make a go of it in music. Suffering with that most human of worries, about contributing something lasting to the world, themes of time and urgency became prevalent in her work and she refined her intensely emotive approach with new-found technical skills.
A flautist and jazz lover, BrandNewTrumpets\' sound reflects her desire for freedom within music, often changing structure or mood at the drop of a hat. This never comes at the cost of emotional depth, however, her minimalistic tracks awash with warm, silky textures and sonorous subs..
Summer 2019 saw BrandNewTrumpets sign to South London label Diffrent Music, helping usher in a new era for the imprint with her debut EP \'Ode To Ole\'. Almost a year on, she returns with 'The Workers' EP, her sound intensified and influenced her time DJing and the unprecedented chaos of 2020. The only way is up for this singular, rising talent.
